Now Hiring: Product Security Engineer – Manufacturing Software (Hybrid, Chicago Area)

We’re working with a global electronics manufacturer to find a P roduct Security Engineer who will play a pivotal role in safeguarding critical production systems and data. This hybrid position is based in the n orthwestern suburbs of Chicago and focuses on securing software applications used in high-volume manufacturing environments.

The Opportunity:

You’ll work closely with software engineering teams to embed security best practices into the software development lifecycle of complex manufacturing platforms. From vulnerability assessments to secure architecture and incident response, this role is central to ensuring the resilience of production applications used across global operations.

Key Areas of Impact:
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on manufacturing-focused applications

  • Collaborate with engineers to review designs, remediate risks, and implement preventative controls

  • Evaluate tools and technologies that strengthen application and network security

  • Guide internal teams on secure development practices and lead security incident response when needed

  • Support ongoing compliance and risk assessments aligned with industry standards

What We’re Looking For:
  • 5+ years of experience in application security, with at least 2 years focused on industrial, embedded, or MES platforms

  • Solid grasp of secure development frameworks and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, SSDLC)

  • Familiarity with tools such as Snyk, Fortify, Black Duck, Nessus, or similar

  • Knowledge of network protocols, authentication systems, and encryption methods

  • Experience with industrial security standards like IEC 62443 or NIST 800-82 is preferred

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work hands-on with developers and product leaders

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related technical field

  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CSSLP, or Security+ are a bonus

Nice to Have:
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing workflows and systems

  • Comfortable navigating hybrid environments with occasional travel (up to 25%)
