Senior Research Scientist/Engineer (R&D) - Robotics - Bay Area, CA

Job Responsibilities:

Senior Research Scientist/Engineer (R&D), The ideal candidate will passionately drive and further advance innovations in the field of robotics, in particular manipulation and human-robot collaboration. The work includes conducting advanced research and development of novel algorithms and guiding business units to bring innovation ideas to products. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Conduct research in robotics to address challenges in manipulation and human-robot collaboration for different application areas.
  • Lead internal projects and external collaborations in related areas.
  • Work with an international team of experts to transfer the results of advanced research to internal and exter business units. When necessary, build prototypes to verify research ideas.
  • Actively scout for emerging technologies and predict market trends by monitoring tech news, events and seminars.
  • Provide expert opinions on relevant technology areas to facilitate strategic planning, R&D roadmap development, and business investment.
  • Summarize research findings in high-quality paper, patent submissions, and/or open-source contributions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

  • D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields
  • 2+ years of industry R&D experience in machine learning, deep learning, motion planning, task planning, and/or control for robotics
  • Hands-on experience with software development in C++ and/or Python for robot hardware

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publication record on top journals and conferences in robotics and/or machine learning
  • Experience leading robotics R&D projects in corporate labs
  • Familiarity with open-source communities including ROS2
  • Experience with cloud-based robotics
  • Experience in product development in the above-mentioned areas for consumer/enterprise markets
