The official LA Drupal 8 pre-release party took place on Tuesday 10th November 2015 in ConSol Partners’ Los Angeles office. With the venue, food and drinks provided by ConSol Partners, and celebratory cupcakes provided by Advomatic, attendees had everything they needed.
The event welcomed Open Source Developers, Designers and Themers of all levels. The LA Drupal community proactively holds regular events of this kind as a way for beginners to learn from and alongside experts, and as a forum for sharing ideas, best practices and industry standards.
The pre-release party was all-encompassing, kicking off with a Drupal Open Lab and ‘Users Helping Users’ session, before moving on to a networking session and a presentation session which was open to the floor. Oliver Seldman of Advomatic took to the floor to discuss interesting features of D8’s updated block system. The official launch date of Drupal 8 is Tuesday 19th November and the community is awaiting this groundbreaking milestone in web development with baited breath.
Luis Cruz, Drupal Recruitment Specialist at ConSol Partners, said of the event:
“It was great to see so many people turn out to celebrate the pending release of Drupal 8. The open discussion with the community of the new features on offer & some of the challenges it might bring provided a great insight! It will be interesting to see path Drupal takes in the coming years.”
ConSol Partners have also been heavily involved with London’s Drupal community in recent years; we sponsored the official London release party for Drupal 7 in January 2011 and then DrupalCon – London’s biggest Drupal conference – in August of that year.
Highlights and key takeaways from the night include:
Drupal 8 – What are the newest features?, and anticipated module release dates
Drupal 7 – EOL (End of Life) estimated to happen in 2018 or 2019
Drupal 6 – EOL (End of Life) planned for February 24, 2016
